Little Christmas, a.k.a. Nollaig BheagLittle Christmas, a.k.a.

A card my cousin in Kerry sent me.

Today is Little Christmas, aka the Feast of the Epiphany, Orthodox Christmas, and Nollaig Bheag. AKA Women's Christmas (Nollaig na mBan), where Irish men traditionally take on all the household duties for the day. Women are instructed to stay abed late, hang out with friends and generally be pampered and waited on hand & foot by their menfolk in appreciation. A spa day might be in order. As my grandmother said, it is the last day of Christmas to get those cards and gifts delivered. Tomorrow you can take down the tree. Or not.
