Honorable mention for poem

Maureen Hurley of Forestville earned an honorable mention with her poem ``Horseflesh'' in the 1994 Anna Davidson Rosenberg Award competition for poems on the Jewish Experience, a nationwide event.

Winning poems will be read Thursday in Berkeley. The competition was established in 1986 by the Magnes Museum and the children of Anna Davidson Rosenberg, who came to California at the turn of the century and became a volunteer community leader.

The free public readings will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Cody's Books, 2408 Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley.
