we pulled over to let a fire truck squeeze by,
with an entourage of police cars,
in a mad whirl of blue lights and sirens
but suddenly the air was filled with bubbles,
bubbles everywhere, and behind that fire truck
was a red wagon, with Santa in the back,
he was waving to everyone. We all waved back.
Rainbow bubbles everywhere. Pure magic.
For a moment I forgot about the plague.
