Karl the Fog is back. Welcome home Karl. We missed you. Welcome cool marine air. Yesterday’s oven was too miserable for words. Good thing I didn’t take off the flannel sheets. A friend, Claudia Siefer took offense to my calling the fog Karl, with a K. She likens it to calling San Francisco, “Frisco.” That seems a little overdramatic. No one knows who named the infamous San Francisco JuneGloom summer fog that rolls in on little cat feet, Karl. But it was a meme that took on a life of its own, and now the fog is named Karl, with a K. Ken Bullock said, I'm sure in coastal Wales there's a meteorologist called Siarl the Fog. It's a viral fog that obscures no good. Someone else calls it MayGray. But there isn’t a meme for that. OK, so in anticipation of summer, I took off the flannel sheets. Don’t make me regret it, Karl.
“In 2010 an anonymous person began a Twitter account for the San Francisco fog, inspired by the fake BP public relations account that appeared after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that year, and named "Karl the Fog" after the misunderstood giant in the 2003 film Big Fish.” Wiki
