George Demont Otis, Point Reyes Valley (a view of the sleeping elephant)

Kathy DePatta owns this George Demont Otis painting of  Elephant Mountain, an image that inspired me to do my own version. In a letter from 1958, he refers to the mountain as the sleeping elephant. She said in the Lost Marin site on Facebook on May 19: “ My husband and I are fortunate to have this landscape by George Demont Otis. He had a studio in Kentfield (for years next to Colonial Liquors) The letter is hard to read but it’s the artists description of the location and details of where it is. The title is “Point Reyes Valley”. And his description is (Distant mountain is Sleeping Elephant).”
