ON OLD BARN ROAD

Beside the fence an old barn
leans toward the western horizon
anchoring the boundary between earth and sky.
Distant hills resonate with spilled light
while stars sing old songs in the evening breeze.
Lufting leaves rustle like taffeta gowns at the cotillion.
